Basement Update #3

Three of the four posts supporting the load bearing beam have been boxed in, taking about forty five minutes per post. Its really a two person job, as my father and Pat have helped out immensely. Hopefully this weekend the last one will be completed and we can move on to staining and painting the walls.

After reading the great biography of the year 1776 by David McCullough, I began searching for more of his work. His writing style really grabs you and puts you smack in the middle of what he is writing about. This biography on John Adams is the one that HBO made into a successful mini-series starring Paul Giamatti.
McCullough won a Pulitzer Prize for his work on Truman, which may very well be my next read.

Brian and Nadia’s Wedding BBQ

Last night was the backyard BBQ for Brian and Nadia to celebrate their wedding with the Irish’s and friends. Brian, Nadia, Nadia’s cousin Karen (Maid of Honor) and Nadia’s mother Connie were all kind enough to make the long trek down south to Massachusetts.
There was a great turnout and everyone seemed to have a great time. There was a lot of fun, good spirits, great weather, and fantastic food.
As you can see, Brian really enjoyed the cake.

New Kitchen Table

Yesterday while at the Christmas Tree Shops, Sarah saw a new kitchen table that she thought would look good in our kitchen. We have been looking on and off for a new table for the kitchen for some time, but she really liked this one and it was reasonably priced. It came with two benches, but when we were picking up the table in recieving, the reciever said they had two other benches from a broken set out back, so we picked those up as well. Here is a before and after of the kitchen tables:

Before:

After:

The old table is a very old family heirloom, given to us by my grandmother, who’s mother gave to her, and her mother may have given to her. Needless to say, it will stay in the house, most likely as a work station in the basement when its done over.

Basement Update #2

Well yesterday was very productive regarding the basement and the steps we need to take to finish it. We went to Lumber Liquidators and found flooring that we both liked and brought it home yesterday afternoon. It was probably the biggest obstacle left in our way. Here is a glimpse of the style we went with:

Its called Dream Home Charisma “Old Boston” Style.
We really look forward to getting it down and having the old country feel in this living area.
Also, we were able to complete the wood encasement of the load bearing beam that runs across the length of the basement. Now we just have to box in the poles and stain before we can paint the walls. Forward progress is a good thing!
Thanks to Dad and Pat for helping with the boxing in of the beam!
More updates as they come.

Chad Irish

According to IsThisYour.Name, there are some interesting things about my name that I didn’t know. One thing I was stunned at was the accuracy of my numerology and what it means. Seven was the day I was born, and the description of what it says about me is pretty accurate.

In Pig Latin, it is Adchay Irishway.
