Clare A. “Pat” Irish, 81, died Monday, January 5, 2009 in St. Vincent Hospital. She leaves her husband of 57 years, Donald L. Irish; three sons, Donald L. Irish Jr. of Greenfield, Nickerson Irish & Darwin Irish both of South Hadley; a daughter, Robin Bernard of Barre; 7 grandchildren and a great grandson; several nieces & nephews. She was predeceased by two brothers and a sister. Pat was born in Attleboro, MA the daughter of the late Edward & Viola (Dean) Veaudry. She graduated from Dean Academy in Franklin and has lived in Spencer for over 40 years. She was a member of the First Congregational Church in Spencer where she was involved with its choir, women’s Fellowship and the economy shop. Pat was a past chairman of the Charitable Needs Committee for the Town of Spencer, former member and past president of the Worcester District Women’s Fellowship, member & past president of MA State Women’s Fellowship, served on Board of Directors and member of the New England Women’s Fellowship and was once chosen as MA. United Church of Christ Woman of the year. Pat stood tall as a pillar of dedication and had a strong desire to help others. She immersed herself in a variety of volunteer type endeavors for many years.

A Memorial service for Pat will be held on Saturday, January 10, 2009 at 11:00 AM in the First Congregational Church, 207 Main St. Donations may be made in her memory to the First Congregational Church Organ Fund, PO Box 187 or to the Spencer Rescue Squad, PO Box 147, Spencer, MA 01562. Pillsbury Funeral Home, 163 Main St., Spencer is directing arrangements.
